Tom Selleck was the original Magnum in the series, but Jay Hernandez takes over in the 2018 reboot. He’s Thomas Sullivan Magnum IV, a former Navy SEAL and Naval Intelligence Private Investigator.
Navy Background: Magnum PI was a former US Navy officer who served in Vietnam and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. He used his military experience to become a private investigator in Hawaii.
Helicopter Pilot: Magnum PI was an experienced helicopter pilot, often using it to get around the island and investigate cases.
Private Investigator: As a private investigator, Magnum PI solved cases for clients ranging from missing persons to murder investigations. He also provided security services for high-profile clients such as Robin Masters, the unseen owner of the estate where he lived and worked from.
