Wow, I was totally taken aback when I saw this little bird lying there, all stunned. It was like time had stopped and I couldn’t believe my eyes. You know how it is - one minute you’re walking along minding your own business and the next you’re faced with something so unexpected. Anyway, I just had to reach out and touch it - it felt so fragile in my hands!
Should I Touch A Stunned Bird? [Solved]
Many birds can take off after hitting a window, but if they’re knocked out cold or stunned and on the ground, scoop ’em up gently and put ’em in a warm, dark spot for two hours. That’ll give ’em time to recover.
Approach Carefully: When approaching a stunned bird, it is important to move slowly and cautiously. This will help the bird remain calm and reduce the risk of further injury.
Check for Injuries: Before attempting to touch the bird, check for any visible injuries or signs of distress. If there are any signs of injury, contact a wildlife rehabilitator immediately for assistance.
Wear Gloves: To protect both yourself and the bird from potential harm, wear gloves when handling a stunned bird. This will also help prevent any potential diseases from being transferred between you and the animal.
Place in Box: Once you have determined that it is safe to handle the bird, place it in a cardboard box with air holes punched into it for ventilation purposes. Make sure that the box is lined with soft material such as newspaper or cloth to provide comfort for the animal while in transit or storage until help can be found if needed.
